SRI is a trans Tamil American DJ, producer and vocalist in Brooklyn. She blends the songs that raised her with the club music she went looking for, and the floor she builds is where those two run together all night.

It took her most of a childhood to get here. Stage 4 cancer at nine, five relapses by seventeen, and for most of that decade a pair of headphones was the thing that held her together.

Now she plays Elsewhere, Nowadays and Public Records. In March she played SXSW’s South Asian House.

She released hmph, a Tamil song called Honey Honey flipped into jersey club. THIMIRU is a Tamil word once used to shame women for having too much audacity, and now it’s hers. Apple Music editorial picked up STOP&STARE, which is her own voice on the record.
